CHAD: Presentation of city plans and official launch of the Moundou project

A ceremony was held at the beginning of February to hand over the city plans to the Ministry of Spatial Planning (MATDHU).  The ceremony also served as the official launch of the Moundou mapping project.  The event gained a great deal of media coverage and attracted interest from a number of state institutions.

After the ceremony the Minister presented a folder containing the plans at a scale of 1:5,000 to the President. The President was delighted with the plans and congratulated the MATDHU and IGN FI on their work.

The President has already made use of the plans for a field trip.

As regards the Moundou project, which is financed by the European Union, the survey carried out in mid-January went very well. The geodetic work was completed at the beginning of March with the installation and observations of the geodetic pillars plus the associated levelling work. Aerial triangulation was calculated within very tight deadlines. The plotting unit will be deployed from next week and data entry will then begin. The European Union has also indicated that it is very pleased with the state of progress in this project.
