Sharing experiences at the Land and Poverty Conference

IGN FI will attend the 19th Annual World Bank Conference on Land and Poverty that will be held March 19 – 23, 2018 in Washington, DC, USA. The 2018 conference theme will be Land Governance in an Interconnected World  (see the program of the conference).

This is the 4th time IGN FI attends this conference. At this occasion, presentations are made on its on-going land projects.

For this edition, specific focuses will be made on 2 or 3 particular aspects of the NLIS. The following issues will be addressed:

  1. How the initiative fits with the government & World Bank decentralization policies
  2. How the NLIS has increased revenue collection to ensure sustainability.
  3. How the NLIS can incorporate the registration Certificates of Customary Ownership (CCOs) and Communal Land Association (CLAs) as an innovative way to secure land tenure in customary settings and facilitate the delivery of land services at the most local level.

In addition an update of the on-going LIS project in Uganda will be made by the team and the MLHUD on scaling up from a pilot to a national system.
