As part of production of around 12,000 topographic maps of the whole Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (around 2 million square km), with a scale of 1:25,000, the «General Commission for Survey (GCS)» awarded IGN FI in September 2017 a project of technical assistance in order to implement the process of quality insurance and quality control of the different products within this cartographic chain.
The cartography relies on the acquisition of SPOT 6/7 images and production of the derived data: digital surface model (DSM), digital terrain model (DTM), orthophoto, vector database, toponymy…
This 24 months long project allows the GCS services benefit from IGN FI expertise during the whole project in order to ensure the respect of the specifications terms and the quality standards required for this type of production.
